| Formed in 1998, Barleyjuice
is a collection of 6 blokes from the lowlands of the
Mid-Atlantic US. They've just released their third
album, Six Yanks, featuring a few traditional songs,
some "updated" traditional songs, and a
few original tunes - most of which are along standard
Barleyjuice themes of enjoying life and love (to the
extreme), and having a sense of humor (and a few pints)
along the way. The latest CD features tunes with catchy
titles such as "Love with a Priest" and
"Tartan is the Color of My True Loves Hair".
The band has quite a rich background in music and
entertainment. Two of the members - Kyf Brewer (yes,
that's really his name) and Keith "Swanny"
Swanson played bagpipes in the Loch Rannoch Pipe Band,
and performed in Edinburgh in front of Prince Charles.
Kyf was also in a band called The Ravyns which did
the song "Raised on the Radio" from the
film "Fast Times At Ridgemont High".
Kyf also has had a respectable career as an actor
and voice talent - he had small roles in several major
movies and TV shows such as Homicide and Hack. He
was the announcer for the 1995 Billboard Music Awards
and the narrator for the VH-1 series "Before
They Were Rock Stars".
Barleyjuice has seen their own songs featured TV
and film, including the 2000 Stallone film "Driven",
as well as a 2004 episode of Fox-TV's "King of
the Hill".
