Take two accomplished musicians from different continents and different musical backgrounds, put them in the same room and watch what happens. More importantly, listen to what happens. Maryland native George Harvey and Bavarian transplant Ossi Becke are two such musicians. For the past six years, the duo has been delighting audiences in the Mid-Atlantic region with their driving original songs and their uniquely arranged reworked classics.

As a percussionist, Ossi Becke has played just about every style of music imaginable - from traditional German "Beer Barrel" Polka music to American folk/rock. Aside from living in America and Bavaria, Ossi has traveled extensively throughout Europe, India, Indonesia, Peru, and Bolivia. It is evident, that as a percussionist, he has absorbed the rhythms and flavors of these different cultures. The resulting stew makes for an exciting and tasteful sense of phrasing and timing.

George Harvey, a multi-instrumentalist in the true sense of the word (he plays guitar, bass and piano to name a few), holds down the melodic end of things on guitar and vocals. Heavily rooted in rock and country music with a healthy dose of Americana thrown in, he moves easily and seamlessly from style to style.

His vocal range is wide enough to cover the musical gamut, from Allman to Zappa and back again, without a hiccup. George's ability as a musician serves him well as a songwriter, allowing him to translate what he hears in his head, lyrically and musically, into a piece that is, at once, fresh and familiar at the same time. The songs are personal on many levels, but also have a universal appeal that makes one say, "I know what you mean, and I know how you feel."

After six years together making music, their diverse styles and backgrounds work together in harmony to produce something that is stronger than the sum of the parts. Neither part is overpowering the other, neither is swinging to the polar opposite. The duo of George Harvey and Ossi Becke realize that somewhere in the middle lies a melding of styles, of genres, of influences that remains fresh and honest: Music without pretense and without false promises.
