| The Squawgum Possums are John
Kidd, Kelly Crumpley, Jan Crumpley and Rick Hudson.
Rick was injected with old time music down in Savannah,
Georgia and brought it with him when he relocated
to Delaware. Rick plays guitar, harmonica, banjo,
auto harp and fiddle, and has been “instrumental”
in getting the band going. Kelly went the long way
around first playing bluegrass, old time banjo, traditional
Irish dance music and back around to old time music
on fiddle, banjo, and guitar at the instigation of
Rick. Jan plays traditional Irish dance music on flute,
whistle and concertina, and accordion with other bands.
She has brought her expertise on the whistle and accordion
to the Possums and has started playing the banjo ukelele
in the bargain. John has played for many years with
another famous Delbilly band, and has been lured to
the Possums to play harmonica, jaw harp and percussion.
The band has played the 2002 Wyoming Peach Festival,
multiple performances at the Delaware Agricultural
Museum and at the Delaware Friends of Folk Coffee
House. The Possums play unique old time music with
its histories and stories intact. They always produce
good time music, sing-a-long fun and a view into a
formative time in the history of our country. |
