| Several things to report this month, including a BIG change in
our coffee house, the lineup for the 15th annual Delmarva Folk Festival,
and a call for volunteers. But at the top of the list is the coffee
house.
Since late 1995, we have been privileged to be able to use a performance
space at Wesley College called “The Underground”. As
you likely know, it’s a space we had to convert to a concert
venue every month by moving furniture, setting up a stage area and
sound system, etc. This space is more-or-less controlled by Wesley
students, thus the several rounds of remodeling over the past 11
years. They intend to remodel yet again, and this time it will make
the room largely unusable as a performance space, no matter how
much stuff we move around.

The Delaware Friends of Folk has arranged for a new Telephone
Number which you can use for your one-way of contacting us. How
easy will it be to remember 877-DEL-FOLK?
When you dial the number, you can choose from many options –
coffeehouse information, Festival Information, General Information,
etc.
Please be patient with us as we get things set up and work out the
kinks, but we hope this will provide an easy way to contact all
of the various hard-working volunteers at the Friends of Folk! |
Well folks, the festival is just over 2 months away now...my
how time flies! There is still much to do to prepare for this two-day
event and we need your help! We are still waiting for someone to
step-up and take the positions of ticket coordinator, volunteer
coordinator and first aid coordinator. Once again, here are some
brief job summaries:
- Tickets- This person is responsible for seeing that tickets
get produced and distributed to presale locations, overseeing
the gate, and for counting and verifying all monies collected
for tickets to the festival. Organization and management skills
would be optimal.
- Volunteer Coordinator- This person helps recruit volunteers
and is responsible for placing volunteers in the needed spots
for the festival. Email capability is a must!
- First Aid- This person is responsible for overseeing the First
Aid station, making sure all bumps, bruises and scrapes that might
happen during the festival and properly attended to. A background
in first aid would be optimal.
Also, we need helping hands for work parties out at the farm! Please
contact Bob Hamel at woodships@dmv.com for details on that.
Remember, all volunteers get free admission to the festival as
well as an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation BBQ shortly
after the festival.
I would also like to take this time to thank all of you who have
been working hard on this years festival. It has taken time and
energy and I want you all to know how much it is appreciated. Thank
you for helping to present the 15th Annual Delmarva Folk Festival.
It truly is something special.
This is a special festival, people. Become a part of it. Help make
this the best festival yet and celebrate 15 years of music at Fields
Farm. And, if you want to do something to help but aren't sure what
you can do, give us a call and we will try to match you up with
the best spot for you. You can reach me at 302-736-3172 or festival@delfolk.org.
Also, don't forget our easy to remember phone number 877-DEL-FOLK,
and press 2 for the Delmarva Folk Festival!
Our next meeting will be September 6th at Sheridan's in Smyrna.
Sheridan's is located at 42 W. Commerce St. in Smyrna. I hope to
see you there!

The Delmarva Folk Festival is less than 3 months away and there
is still so much to do. We have started site preparations, ticket
sales, program ad sales, and all of the tasks that need done to make
this thing work.
We truly need help in all areas of the Festival, from now, until October
6, and even after to help with the clean-up.
Please contact Pauline Gonzales-Deihl, Jan Crumpley, or any Board
member to find out what you can do to help and how your help can get
you in for free.
