The Old State House concert series is presented by Delaware Friends of Folk. These events are supported by a grant from the Kent County Fund for the Arts, an organization that aims to enhance the quality of life, educate, and broaden perspectives by supporting the arts and arts organizations in Kent County. Support is also provided by the First State National Heritage Park, a partnership of State and City agencies under the leadership of Delaware State Parks and the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs. Delaware Friends of Folk are partially supported by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.

Kate Mills blends a laid-back Laurel Canyon vibe with disarmingly honest songwriting, turning real-life experiences into deeply personal songs. A former social worker, her gift for storytelling and human connection shines through in every performance. Since releasing her debut album, Each Bittersweet Drop, in 2020, the New York City-based singer/songwriter has performed at venues and festivals across the country, including Hotel Café (LA), The Cutting Room (NYC), Montauk Music Festival, Ladybug Festival, NJ Folk Festival, and Musikfest.

Boxturtle Bob is a one-man band. He adeptly strums and picks his acoustic guitar while keeping the metronome-precise beat with his drum set and periodically playing zippy flourishes on his harmonica. His original songs make up a big portion of his set lists when performing at restaurants and bars in and around Cecil County, MD. His list of past and present bands includes the Crazy Planet Band, Nightstreet, Blues Blues, and Delmarva Folk Festival favorites, Planete Folle, which he described as a “cajun-zydeco version of the original Crazy Planet Band.“ In October 2025, Rob and the other members of the Crazy Planet Band were inducted into the Delaware Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Stone Jack Ballers are a regional jam-band favorite from central Delaware, featuring Brian McDaniel on guitar and vocals, Geoff Frazier on percussion and backing vocals, and a rotating cast of talented musicians who keep every performance fresh with inspired improvisation. Drawing influence from the Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, The Band, and other classic acts, SJB transforms beloved rock songs into something both familiar and new while delivering original music that feels timeless. A fixture on the regional music scene for more than 12 years, they've built a loyal following with their unique blend of musicianship, spontaneity, and heartfelt performances—music that, as one fan put it, "hits you right between the eyes."

Jessica Graae blends her folk-rock style and classical training to create haunting, soulful songs. Her “evocative, lush, exquisite” vocals are accompanied by “elegant and impressive guitar playing”. Twice named WSTW’s Hometown Hero's “Best Female Solo Artist”, Jessica has performed live on Joltin’ Joe’s Radio Nowhere, Gene Shay’s Folk Show (WXPN), Graffiti Radio, WCHE’s SoundStage and WSTW’s Hometown Heroes. She has been featured at the Haverford Music Festival, the Ladybug Festival and the Delmarva and Philadelphia Folk Festivals. Jessica's music is part of WHYY's Local Music project, and she has appeared on WHYY's You Oughta Know. Her album “Wild River” was released in April 2022.

Marissa Levy is a singer-songwriter from Lewes, Delaware but formerly from Brooklyn, NY. She is known for her big voice, clever lyrics, and irresistibly catchy melodies. Marissa’s deeply personal yet relatable songs have earned her airplay and accolades, with albums like “63 Songs About Joe” (produced by Mike Viola) and “Marissa Levy is Fine” showcasing her sharp wit and emotional depth. Her music has appeared on TV and film, including Comedy Central’s Kroll Show. Passionate about promoting original music, Marissa founded The Listening Booth in 2022, hosting artists like Jill Sobule and Dar Williams, cementing her as a vital voice in the indie music scene.

Nancy Maliwesky is a contemporary folk singer/songwriter and musician. She has been writing and performing her original music for most of her life, on Long Island, Brooklyn, Syracuse, NY, and most recently in Dover, where she lives happily with her musician husband Jerry and their two cats. “My favorite songs are about hope, redemption and the power of kindness... and birds!” Together, they host the successful Sunroom Songwriter's Series house concerts in Dover, where they provide an intimate music venue in their acoustically superb sunroom. They have featured a wide variety of talented singer/songwriters from Delaware and across the United States and Canada.
